My story

It took a health crisis to really wake me up at age 59—a health crisis of such major proportion that I sat stunned thinking “How the hell did this happen to me”? It was advanced breast cancer. How had I not seen this coming? When did it start? HOW did it start?
I was in living in Mexico at the time with my new husband and running a 24/7 probiotic foods and sourdough bread business. Since I felt I had neither the support nor the strength to take a natural route to healing, I decided to return to Canada for conventional treatment. It was gruelling to say the least and at the end of it all my husband announced he wanted a divorce—another major shock!
I was a mess! Not only was I totally debilitated from the cancer treatments, weak and sick, I now had to deal with the emotional blows of feeling unloved and uncertain of my future. Major depression set in.
I decided to turn to my two loves that I knew would heal my mind, body and spirit—Kundalini Yoga and whole food nutrition.
I knew that any illness starts at a very subtle level before it’s noticed. I knew that I had to go very deep in order to heal. And the deepest place is that mystical layer where the spiritual meets the physical—the chakras—those subtle energy vortices that are associated with major nerve plexuses connected to the spine and brain, as well as important glands and organs. I knew that unresolved emotional issues tend to lodge in the subtle nerve channels associated with each of the chakras and create blockages in those channels that ultimately manifest in physical problems.
I explored the physical and emotional impact of each chakra and how Kundalini Yoga tools and techniques to heal myself—and believe me I had many issues!
Here’s some of the basic tools I used:
*deep breathwork (pranayama) to cleanse my lungs, oxygenate my blood, create energy, alkalinize my blood, reduce anxiety and stress levels, and create calm
* kriyas (sets of active postures) to clear the brain fog, kickstart my metabolism, balance my blood sugar, heal my digestion and my gut
*mantra meditation to strengthen my nervous system, raise my vibration out of the mundane world, connect with my soul and create a deep sense of peace
Because the chakras have both physical and spiritual elements, I also explored the food lifestyle that would best nourish the chakras. I consider all real food as sacred because it has been given to us by the Creator. I chose foods that deeply nourish the glands and organs associated with each chakra. This allowed me to deeply cleanse, detoxify and nourish my body and mind and I was able to recover quickly.
This has resulted in a food and yogic lifestyle program I now call “Sacred Chakra Therapy”.
