You may have heard people talking about chakras--from bottom to top they are the root chakra, sacral chakra, solar plexus chakra, heart chakra, throat chakra, third eye, crown chakra and the aura. Maybe "chakra" is kind of a strange word for you? Chakras are really not so mysterious but they are mystical. They are both physical and spiritual. They're associated with major nerve plexus along the spine and with various glands and organs, and yet they are not these things. Chakras are actually energy vortices. Since we're beings of energy, we continually receive energy from our environment and from the universe. We take in energy through the top of our head (crown), |
we take in energy through our nostrils when we inhale, and we take in energy through our belly button when we walk and through the movement of our arms and legs. All of this energy that we take in stimulates the chakra energy vortices.
But what's the purpose of these chakras??? Think of a whirlpool of water--it spins and has a central vortex that sucks air or other things down into it. The energy of chakras similarly spins in a particular vibrational pattern, draws down into itself emotions, thoughts and physical experiences. Our chakras are unique to us and therefore have their own particular vibrational patterns based on what they process. The vibrational pattern of a chakra determines how we behave. If emotions, thoughts and experiences are not properly processed or understood by us on a mental level, they can lodge in the chakras and cause blockages. These blockages act as veils which prevent the true nature of the chakra from shining through. For example, a well-balanced root chakra gives us a sense of security and practicality. If we have unresolved experiences that challenge our sense of security, these unresolved thoughts and emotions create blockages in the chakra and prevent the quality and quantity of pure energy of that chakra from shining through. This in turn effects what and how much we can effectively handle in our daily life. In the case of the root chakra, we might feel insecure and be unable to deal with mundane or everyday aspects of life.
Working with the chakras through Kundalini Yoga and nourishing foods provides immense healing and transformational opportunities. This is why I'm preparing an on-line program to be launched in January 2016 to journey through the chakras and become familiar with each one more intimately. You will gain new insights into your thoughts and emotions and what action you can take to remove blockages in the individual chakras that could be preventing you from living a happy and healthy life.
